Archaide Project advances: new phase of works

14 March 2018

Archaide Project keeps on advancing steadily in its different phases. Once the first version of the digital tool has been developed, we have to test it in real work scenarios, both in the field of academic archaeology and in the professional practice of companies. For this we will have the collaboration of various institutions and companies in Spain. We will work with ceramics from archaeological sites from the regions of Madrid, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands. The collaborative entities will be pioneers in the use of a digital tool that aims to change the future of archaeological practice.

The aim of this new phase of the work is to check the operation of the application, detect and correct possible failures and get a user interface as intuitive and simple as possible to ensure a satisfactory experience. For this we will use a software specialized in the analysis of digital applications.

It is our aim to expedite as much as possible the task of identifying the ceramic types that appeared during the archaeological excavation process. This work is essential for the correct chronological assignment of the different excavated archaeological levels and the subsequent interpretation of the site. This is the only way to acquire quality historical knowledge. Archaide app will be useful both in the fieldwork phase, helping archaeologists to establish a correct identification of the piece, as well as in the later phase of study in the cabinet, for the preparation of inventories and the writing of reports.

We keep on working. We will keep you informed.
